Diamond Blade FAQ
Q: Can I cut asphalt with a general purpose blade?
A: The General Purpose blades can cut a small amount of asphalt but will wear quickly because of how abrasive asphalt is. SRW recommends using a blade that is specific for cutting asphalt such as the Abrasive Material blade.
Q: Should I use a turbo or standard segmented blade?
A: A turbo segmented blade will cut faster than a standard segmented blade. A standard segmented blade will give you longer cutting life than a turbo segmented.
Q: Why is my blade wearing out faster than normal?
A: Material being cut is too abrasive for the blade. Be sure to check the application chart to be sure you are using the right blade for the job. Contact an SRW Products Territory Manager if you have questions about blade options.
Q: Why does the blade want to walk up out of the cut?
A: Recommended depth of cut per pass is 2 to 3 inches. Trying to cut too much will make the blade walk out of the cut.
Q: Why does the blade seem to be wobbling when cutting?
A: Two causes are possible. First, check your bearings, they should not be loose or worn. Also make sure the blade is not loose. Second, if the blade has overheated it may lose tension and start to wobble.
Q: Why did my blade stop cutting?
A: Material being cut is too hard for the blade to work. Refer to the application chart to be sure you are using the right blade for the job.
